Methuen SWAT situation ends with barricaded man surrendering to police

Police in Methuen, Massachusetts, say a resident has turned himself in after barricading himself in a home Wednesday.

Authorities initially said there was an increased police presence on Huntington Avenue, asking the public to avoid the area due to an ongoing situation.

Police later said they responded around 3:40 p.m. to the home, finding the door barricaded. They were unable to make contact with the man inside.

The Northeastern Massachusets Law Enforcement Council's SWAT team responded to take part in negotiations.

The man surrendered around 6:45 p.m., police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said they could not release any furthr details, citing to the Domestic Violence Act of 2014.
