Officers Open Fire on Stabbing Suspect in Boston: Police

Officers in Boston opened fire on a man they say was stabbing another person during a fight late Monday night.

Luis Gomes, 32, was placed under arrest and is facing numerous charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, for his role in the fight.

Police officers witnessed Gomes "actively stabbing" another man during a fight near 208 Adams Street at around 11:27 p.m., Commissioner William Gross said.

One officer was attempting to break up the fight when Gomes allegeldy turned and attempted to stab the officer, Gross said. Another officer then shot Gomes in the thigh.

Gross says the officers tended to the Gomes’ wound until EMS arrived. Both Gomes and the stabbing victim were in stable condition.

Both officers were also transported to the hospital but neither were injured.
