A 21-year-old woman has died following a double stabbing Saturday afternoon in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, that left a 17-year-old girl seriously wounded and a 16-year-old girl in custody facing a murder charge, officials announced.
Boston police were called to Woodside Avenue just before 5 p.m. for a person stabbed. Before officers arrived on scene, two victims who had been stabbed multiple times ran into the District 13 police station, located at 3347 Washington Street.
Both victims were taken to separate Boston hospitals. The first victim, identified by the district attorney as a 21-year-old woman, died from her injuries, police said on Sunday. The second victim, identified by the DA as a 17-year-old girl, suffered life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive.
Officials have not released the name of the woman who died.
"It's just unfortunate you know?" said a man named Joseph who works at a nearby convenience store and has lived in the area for decades. "People dying in the neighborhood over ridiculous stuff, it's a shame."
"They're all customers of ours, and they're friends of ours, and they're people we love like family, and when you hear a few of them are affected by the violence, unnecessary violence, it's just, it's just ridiculous, you know," he added.

According to police, immediately after the stabbing, officers apprehended a minor in the area of Glen Road not far from where the stabbing happened. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later arrested and charged with delinquency to wit: murder.
"A lot of hearts are broken now because of this situation, but you gotta commend the police for catching the suspect," Joseph added.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said Sunday that the 16-year-old girl will be arraigned Monday on murder and other charges in West Roxbury - Boston Municipal Court in connection to the double stabbing. Per Massachusetts law, the DA's office says arraignments of juveniles aged 14 to 17 charged with homicide occur in regular session, not juvenile court.
Authorities have not said what led them to arrest the girl, whose name is not being released. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
No other information was released Sunday. The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Saturday's stabbing.
