Police are investigating a shooting near South Union and Cambridge streets in Lawrence, Massachusetts, overnight.
Lawrence police said they responded to an automobile accident on South Union Street early Monday morning and found a 27-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was treated on scene by paramedics and EMTs from Lawrence General Hospital, and then taken by ambulance to that facility.
He was later transported to a Boston hospital and police say he is expected to survive.
Video showed a Honda CRV in the middle of the road with its lights on and the front seat airbag deployed. Another car was seen crashed into a utility pole.
Based on the initial investigation, police said this is not believed to be a random act of violence, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active and is being conducted jointly by local and state police.
