Police in Cranston, Rhode Island, are investigating after they say a 15-year-old student found a loaded gun near the high school Tuesday.
The teen found the .22 caliber pistol behind Cranston High School around 2:15 p.m., according to necn affiliate WJAR.
It was wedged between two pieces of curbstone.
Police say the teen did not touch the gun and told authorities.
It is unknown how long the gun was there. Police are trying to match it to its owner.
