There was an active scene in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood Monday night following a shooting on Washington Street. It was just the latest violent incident in the city over the long holiday weekend.
Boston police confirm one person was taken to a local hospital following the shooting just before 9 p.m. at 27 Washington St. The victim had non-life threatening injuries.
An NBC10 Boston crew on scene said police surrounded an apartment unit, and there were a lot of officers in tactical gear.
A couple of people were seen being taken away in police vehicles. A mother who spoke to NBC10 Boston said her son was involved in that as a witness to this crime.
A lot of police were behind the apartment complex, and screams could be heard coming from the back lot, according to our crew on scene.
One vehicle that was sectioned off by yellow crime scene tape was eventually towed Monday night. Police are not yet commenting on if they have made any official arrests. They are actively investigating what happened.
The neighborhood trauma team was on scene handing out flyers Monday night. This shooting location is a little over a mile from where a man was fatally shot earlier in the day.

Boston police said officers responded to a report of a person shot around 5:30 a.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound in the area of High Street and Church Street. The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been announced.
Just after midnight, Boston police responded to 277 Princeton Street where they found someone stabbed. That victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. No arrests were made in that case, either.
All of the New Year's Day violence comes after a violent weekend across the city, including another death in Dorchester on Saturday when police found a man who had been shot several times at Geneva Ave. The victim hasn't been identified, and no arrests have been announced.
Later Saturday, Boston firefighters who were responding to a blaze on Fairlawn Avenue were met with gunfire from inside the building. The suspected gunman was later taken into custody after hurting himself, apparently from a fall.
