Thousands run 10K through Boston for women

More than 5,000 runners from across 40 states participated in Saturday's 48th annual Boston 10k for Women.

The race, sponsored by REI, is held to inspire and empower women to achieve their wellness goals through their love of running. It is open to all genders.

Erika Kemp, of Providence, Rhode Island, who won the race in a personal best time of 31:48. Kemp also won the event in 2022 with a personal record of 32:15.

"“Winning once is super cool, but now, they’re going to keep saying I’m a two-time champion and that just sounds a lot better," Kemp said in a public statement.

Runners start at the Boston Common, where there are tents of activities from sponsors throughout the morning. The event also holds a kids' fun run that begins at 10:30a.m.
