A road had to be closed in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Saturday evening for an uncommon reason.
Cambridge police say a 30' boat slid off its trailer at Cambridge and Third streets around 7 p.m., resulting in the "unusual road closure."
According to police, the driver had stopped at a traffic light, and when they accelerated through the intersection, the safety chains failed and the boat slid onto the roadway.
There were no injuries, police said.
The incident occurred at a busy intersection that was packed with people taking pictures and videos of the unusual scene.
Oliver Ho and his friend were on their way to dinner around 7 p.m. when they heard what sounded like a loud fender bender. They walked a little further and saw the huge boat in the middle of the road.

Ho says he watched the owner of the truck try to push the boat back on the trailer with no luck. He says police arrived fairly quickly and tried to get the boat on a tow truck but that didn't work either. It was a crane that was brought in to lift the boat.
"I think after the initial shock of everyone coming from all different directions kind of just, worked their way around it," Ho said. "I was concerned that maybe some people kind of staring at it too long might have gotten into another accident and made a whole thing but everyone did their due diligence after taking pictures as they were driving."
Another witness told NBC10 Boston that he was a little bit frustrated because he was trying to get around and find a parking spot.
It reportedly took about an hour for the boat to be removed.
Overall, everyone is just glad no pedestrians or drivers were injured.
