Woman Pleads Not Guilty in 2011 Shooting Death

29-year-old Emily Perkins of South Royalton pleaded not guilty Thursday

A Vermont woman accused in the 2011 shooting of a woman at a Bethel man's home has been charged with murder in the death of the homeowner.

The Valley News reports 29-year-old Emily Perkins of South Royalton pleaded not guilty Thursday in White River Junction to second-degree murder in the death of 48-year-old Scott Hill.

Hill was found shot to death at the same time Emma Jozefiak was found wounded inside the home in November 2011. Perkins was charged in February 2014 with attempted second-degree murder in Jozefiak's shooting.

Prosecutors allege Perkins shot Hill and Jozefiak during a gun-for-drugs deal.

Perkin's attorneys have argued a letter allegedly written by her now-deceased husband states he killed Hill - and inadvertently injured Jozefiak - because Hill made sexual advances toward Perkins.
