Police have arrested a woman in connection to the hit-and-run that killed a University of New Haven graduate student in New Haven last year.
According to police, 23-year-old Priyanshu Agwal, of West Haven, was riding an electric scooter in the area of Whalley Avenue and Amity Road on Oct. 18, 2023 around 11 p.m. when he was hit by a driver who left the scene.
The University of New Haven said Agwal was taking his final classes in business analytics to complete his degree.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said Agwal was an international student who was a couple months away from graduating. He was applying fort jobs and he had big dreams of a life in the United States.
Elicker said Agwal's family made the decision to donate his heart and it is now beating in someone else's body.
Agwal’s brother spoke during a news conference.
“I miss my brother every day,” Aman Agwal said.

Authorities said an arrest warrant was secured for Jill Augelli.
She was arrested on Nov. 18, 2024. She is facing charges including evading responsibility resulting in death and her bond was set at $250,000.
During a news conference on Monday morning, Elicker said the city is doing what it can to reduce incidents of driving dangerously in New Haven, including installing red light cameras.
