The driver accused of drunkenly crashing into a Massachusetts State Police cruiser on Interstate 90, injuring the trooper inside, appeared in court Tuesday.
Kimberly Anderson, 45, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was arrested Monday night after the Subaru Forester she was driving struck a police vehicle working detail near mile marker 126.8 on I-90 westbound around 9:20 p.m.
Anderson appeared in court Tuesday, where she was appointed an attorney at a cost of $300 to her, and was arraigned on charges of drunk driving, operating a motor vehicle negligently and marked lanes violation.
The Commonwealth was requesting $500 cash bail, but Anderson's court-appointed attorney argued for personal recognizance, saying Anderson is a native of North Andover, Mass., who went to North Andover High School and was in court Tuesday morning with her parents, who still live in Massachusetts.
The judge agreed to release Anderson on personal recognizance and the conditions that she have no alcohol and speak with probation about arranging for a pre-trial alcohol evaluation.
She's due back in court on Oct. 29.
State police said Tuesday that the injured trooper had been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home now, adding that they are not able to share any of the trooper's injuries.
