The body has been identified as Ryan Cooper, 31, of Raymond, New Hampshire, officials said Monday.

A body was recovered from the Merrimack River in Methuen, Massachusetts, over the weekend.

Massachusetts State Police initially released very little information but said their dive team and local firefighters recovered the body of a dead man early Sunday afternoon.

A body was found in the Merrimack River in Methuen, Massachusetts on Sunday, according to the Essex District Attorney's Office.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office provided an update Monday, saying the body was located after the Methuen Fire Department responded to a boat ramp at 1110 Riverside Drive in Methuen around 12:45 p.m.

The DA's office added that the body has since been positively identified as Ryan Cooper, 31, of Raymond, New Hampshire.

Authorities did not say how Cooper died or ended up in the river, but foul play is not suspected, according to the district attorney.

No other information was immediately available.
