Hugh Hefner to Be Buried Next to Marilyn Monroe

Hefner bought the crypt next to Monroe's for a reported $75,000 in 1992

Hugh Hefner and Marilyn Monroe were linked in life. Now, they'll be linked in death.

Hefner, who died at age 91 Wednesday, will be buried at the Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles next to Monroe, according to multiple media reports. Monroe graced the inaugural issue of Playboy in 1953.

Hefner bought the crypt next to Monroe's for a reported $75,000 in 1992.

The Playboy founder discussed the purchase of the crypt in a 2000 interview in magazine, according to the New York Daily News. “To me there’s something rather poetic in the fact that we’ll be buried in the same place. And that cemetery also has other meanings and connections for me. Friends like Buddy Rich and Mel Torme are buried there. So is Dorothy Stratten.”

Hefner died of natural causes at his home, the Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday night, Playboy Enterprises said.

Calls to Westwood Village Memorial park were not returned.
