Iowa Zoo Welcomes Baby Giraffe Named Lizzy

Officials at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines say a baby giraffe is doing well a week after being born. Izuri gave birth on Dec. 6, 2016, to calf Lizzy. Lizzy is described as energetic, but is not yet available for public viewings. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation estimates that there are less than 100,000 animals left in the wild and they are listed as a vulnerable species.
