Boston police arrested a man Sunday in connection to a fatal shooting in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.

21-year-old Mikai Thomson, of Dorchester, is accused of fatally shooting a 22-year-old man late Saturday night on Old Road and Michigan Avenue.

Police responded to the reported gunfire near the Franklin Park Zoo around 11:41 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the man -- whom police have identified as 22-year-old Xavier Rivas -- suffering from gunshot wounds. Rivas was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Thomson was wanted on a warrant issued in August for firearms charges and assault and battery on a police officer.

Thomson is now facing multiple weapons-related charges as well as murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Tuesday. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
