A man was fatally stabbed at a home for veterans in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood on Monday, police said, and a second man is in custody.
Investigators were speaking to a person of interest who knew the man who died, police said after announcing the man's death Monday afternoon.
Boston police said the call came in shortly after noon Monday for a person stabbed in a building on Hartford Street — the address given was for the Pine Street Inn's Hartford House. The man who was stabbed later died of his injuries; he hasn't been identified.
Monday evening police announced the arrest of Eduardo Bonilla, 43, of Dorchester. He has been charged with murder, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Tuesday.
A representative for Pine Street Inn, a nonprofit that provides shelter to the unhoused in the Boston area, confirmed that the organization was aware of the incident but didn't have more information to provide amid the ongoing police investigation.
Staff at the scene were asking that the veterans living at the facility have their privacy respected as they processed what happened.
Neighbors said violence is very unusual for the neighborhood. Rev. Cheryl Moore said the people who stay in the building are "usually pretty nice."
Police asked anyone with information that could help their investigation to contact them.
