Police are investigating an incident in which seven people were shot outside a nightclub in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
According to police, four men and three women, all from New Bedford, were injured in the shooting outside Jalice Cafe early Saturday morning.
None of the injuries are considered life-threatening. One man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, while the other six were being treated at St. Luke's Hospital.
Police say initial reports indicate that someone walked outside of the nightclub, found a drink on his vehicle, and hit another patron with it after he slapped it away.
Authorities believe this led to people shoving each other and shots being fired.
A nearby business was also hit with gunfire.
New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell released the following statement:

"First of all, I am grateful that none of the injuries suffered as a result of this incident were life-threatening. We will not tolerate this sort of violence in our community. The City is taking swift, direct action with respect to the bar involved in the incident. The Police Department has ordered the establishment closed this evening, and the Licensing Board will hold a hearing on Wednesday evening to determine the role of the bar and whether sanctions are appropriate. In the meantime, the Police Department has made this investigation its top priority, and is actively pursuing every lead to apprehend those responsible for the incident."
