The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

One man has died in a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.

According to police, they responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 198 Blue Hill Avenue just after 12:30 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

One week after the shooting, police identified the victim as 42-year-old Joao Alves of Roxbury.
