Donald Trump ditched the teleprompter Friday at his first rally since receiving backlash from other Republican party members for refusing to back away from his comments about the judge presiding over the Trump University lawsuit, NBC News reported.
It was his first appearance at a public rally since he first made the racially charged comments about Judge Gonzalo Curiel. Trump said Curiel could not be fair during the trial because of his “Mexican heritage.”
Trump told about 2,000 people in the Richmond Coliseum that he’s the “least racist person you’ve ever seen.” He then declared he'd change his campaign’s slogan.
"Make America Great Again," Trump told the crowd. "I'm adding 'For Everyone' — because it's really going to be for everyone. It's not going to be for a group of people, it's going be for everyone."
Earlier in the week, a more subdued Trump used a teleprompter during a speech that sounded like assurance to the party's establishment.
