A 13-year-old boy was among those arrested in connection with a 2018 beating that left a Maine man dead.
State police said three people -- a 13-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and 23-year-old Pierre Mousafiri, all of Lewiston -- were arrested Thursday morning after months of investigation into the June 2018 beating death of 38-year-old Donald Giusti. The teenage suspects were not identified.
The arrests were made after nearly a year of investigating Giusti's death, and included multiple interviews and a thorough examination of evidence, according to state police.
The 13-year-old was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge and was taken to the Long Creek Correctional Facility in South Portland until his first court appearance in Lewiston District Court on Thursday afternoon. The 17-year-old, who was also taken to the Long Creek Correctional Facility, will face a manslaughter charge during his arraignment Friday afternoon.
Mousafiri will face a misdemeanor assault charge on June 12, pending his release on bail.
It's unclear if any of the accused have an attorney.
Authorities said Giusti was found severely beaten near Kennedy Park on June 12, 2018. He died several days later at Central Maine Medical Center.
