New Hampshire residents returning library books with bedbugs inside the pages may soon be temporarily banned.
Library trustees at Lane Memorial Library in Hampton say they are considering temporarily banning people who return books with bedbugs inside after the vermin appeared at the return desk last month.
Lane Memorial Library director Amanda Reynolds Cooper says the bedbugs were discovered by staff checking books returned on Sept. 21.
The return desk was cleaned with alcohol and determined safe by someone who specializes in pest removal.
The Portsmouth Herald reports the trustees will be presented with the policy at their Nov. 13 meeting.
If approved, the policy would require those who return books with bedbugs to obtain documentation showing the vermin has been removed from their home.
