(NECN) - Just like babies, mothers come in all shapes and sizes.
But recent trends show many of those women are waiting longer to start their families.
One recent Wall Street Journal article said, “Doctors say advances in fertility treatments and media coverage of women conceiving in their 40s and even 50s have led some to believe they can beat the biological clock."
Dr. Robert Weiss, a reproductive endocrinologist for Fertility Centers of New England joined NECN to talk more about pregnancy and age.
According to2011 stats from American Congress of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, a healthy 30-year-old has 20-percent chance of getting pregnant each month.
A healthy 40-year-old has 5-percent chance each month.
Weiss talks about healthy eggs in relation to age and health.
