Boston Library May be Renamed for William M. Bulger

Bulger served as president of Mass. Senate from 1976 to 1996

Boston City Council President Bill Linehan is proposing South Boston's Branch Library be renamed for politician William M. Bulger, according to The Boston Globe.

Bulger, 80, served as president of the Massachusetts Senate from 1976 to 1996, and president of the University of Massachusetts system from 1996 to 2003.

Linehan submitted the nomination to the Boston Public Facilities Commission, which is set to review the bid Aug. 6.
